My current project is set in the not-to-distant future when you, the player, awakes as digitized mind in a virtual reality hosted in a computer on a tiny moon orbiting Uranus. You are tasked with defending Omega Station from various factions that either want to destroy or capture it. But nothing is as it seems at first, and you’ll have to decide how you want to proceed.
Glory of Rome MUSH
I began work on the Glory of Rome in 2002. The concept was simple. Players represented the head of a noble family in the Republican Era. Your job was to cultivate support and get members of your immediately family elected to leadership positions. There were a number of complex systems to simulate various aspects of life in Rome. Unfortunately, the Glory of Rome burned down when my day job as a Supervising Producer at a certain international news network got hella crazy in March of 2003. Yes, I do blame George W. Worst of all is that I lost the source code I had created!
Chiba City MUSH
This was a cyberpunk themed text-only MMO set in a Tokyo suburb and featuring ideas drawn from the Cyberpunk 2020 game as well as the seminal works of William Gibson and Neal Stephenson. I used the name Codex for the first time here. One of my favorite highlights was a couple of sessions of a Japanese style game show involving most of the player base.
Fading Suns MUSH
This was my first major creation. It utilizes the PennMUSH package to create a text-only multiplayer experience set in the Fading Suns universe. Almost 20 years later, the game’s website still exists.
